Up early for today is our trip to Cairo. Left Phidias hotel Athens at 4am in a private car, definitely the way to go rather than pay taxi .
Very easy check in with Aegean and flight very good only taking 2 hrs to arrive.

We had prepared some one from Marriott mena to greet us and a driver to pick us up.
Well worth the meet and greet for he had us through the visa part very quickly and through the airport a lot faster than what we could of managed.

Then we where on our way through the crowded streets of Cairo.
We where told by our driver that there is approx 30 million people living in Cairo.
The town of course is very dirty looking and very old with run down buildings, a lot of sand and garbage on the streets.
People where madly weaving in and out of the traffic following no rules at all, it’s a ,ad dash to see who can get in front first and who can beep the loudest.
Just when you think you have been through enough of the beeping then along comes the family all sitting up on one rather small motor cycle.
There where 4 on the bike today , no helmets and small children I. Which I was horrified to see.
Then there was the small truck with all the cows packed on top of each other what next.!

Approx 1 hour later our driver had said you will be able to see the pyramids soon and there they where majestically sitting high on the hill , this was what I had waited a life time to see, and they didn’t let me down, with tears rolling down my face I clicked away happily on my phone camera making sure to get as many photos as I could .

Upon arriving at the Marriott mena we then went through a security screening of the car, then onto check in which we also needed to go through a security screening which I was happy about.

The Marriott mena is a very grand place with lots of gold in the reception and lots of beautiful green grass and water ponds , and of course standing there in all it’s glory the 2 large pyramids which was nothing short of fantastic .

Whilst waiting for check in we went across and had something to eat and yes I’m excited for I can see the pyramids from where I’m having lunch .

We had got to our room and it was the deluxe pyramid suite very spacious and of course on the balcony we can see the grand old pyramid which made me very happy to see.

Had a bit of a rest and we made our way down to the reception to book in our tour of the pyramids Sphinx and the museum making sure I also get to see the mummies as well, that was $230 usd but we get a tour guide and car with that as well.

Off to dinner we sat at the restaurant outside having a drink which was a Kahlua yes that cost us $70 usd that’s correct there is no typo which was $106 aud

🤪

after getting back to our room and querying the price . it was correct for we had to pay import and vat tax so no we won’t be having any more of that whilst here

😂

We have taken a lot of lovely photos today and we are very tired after our big day .
Got to get up early for our tour tomorrow

What a happy day we had and I have now seen my beloved pyramids .
