Woke up at 6am and decided not to get up straight away . (YAY ) Heading off for the buffet breakfast first up which was very nice, it looked to be the American style breakfast which we had scrambled eggs and bacon with some small pieces of toast, I didn’t like the bacon but the rest was nice.
I’m still hanging for a cappuccino so hopefully I can find one soon. So after breakfast we grabbed our luggage and went down to checkout. Tony had asked the reception lady how much would we expect to pay for a taxi to the port in which she had said 13 euro roughly. So off to find our Taxi which was just across the road at the train station. The Taxis are all lined up in what you would describe has disorganised chaos.
The man at the front who calls upon the Taxis is trying to tell Tony to take the Taxi all the way to Sorrento and Tony is saying NO! We are on holidays we want to see the port. We hop in the Taxi and Tony was asking the driver why he was not turning on the meter? The driver said he would be charging us 25 Euro. Well my Tony was not putting up with that rubbish, he had said NO do you think we are stupid! It would of taken approx. 6 mins to get to the Port and we paid him 15 Euro, I said you should be looking after your tourists and that he should be ashamed of himself. With that he left.
Now with that poor behaviour over and done with we shall move on to the ferry ride across to Sorrento. The ride across was very similar to the Hamilton Island ferry ride which was enjoyable , this took approx. 45 mins.
Sorrento is a beautiful place, with old buildings high up on the hill top, and very small winding roads with cobblestones which is just as I imagined it to be. The taxi up to our place where we will be staying for 4 nights was 20 euro. It’s very hot today and Tony is carrying the suitcases up and down stairs whilst we are looking for the Host, in which we can’t find, not happy Jan. We walk down again from the parking lot and then hello there she is putting along on a little scooter. Hallelujah!
We follow her in to the apartment and the room was not quite ready but we were able to just sit for a bit and wait which was great. The apartment is fantastic with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms kitchen and laundry all modern. The supermarket is just 3 mins down the road so that was handy for us to grab a few items to cook in the apartment. We will be off for a walk shortly to see what is around the place.
