Today we get ready to say goodbye to Santorini.
Up at 7am so a nice sleep-in compared to other places where we’ve had to get up at 4am to be ready to head to our next destination.

Breakfast was brought to our room and served at 8:20am. This morning we decided to go with the Greek yoghurt, fruit salad, honey, a ham and cheese toasted sandwich and an orange juice each. The Greek yoghurt was the best yoghurt I’ve ever had (with the honey mixed in) so as I’ve been a good boy I was able to go back and ask for seconds….

After breakfast we finished packing our suitcases and checked out of our room then met with our driver who was waiting to collect our luggage. Unlike our transport to our hotel that was in a private Mercedes people mover and cost 30 euro…this time we were picked up in a 22 seater bus for 25 euro to the port. On the way we stopped off and picked up a Spanish family before joining the cue of traffic all heading down the hill to the main port area.

Our boat was delayed by 40mins so we found a seat at our favourite ice cream / sorbet shop and ordered the same what we did when we first arrived. After we finished…and to get away from all the smokers we headed over to our ferry’s terminal to wait for boarding.

As we saw our ferry coming through the heads we hurried over to join the growing line of passengers. When given the go-ahead we all scrambled to get on the ferry quickly to find a spot to place our luggage. The racks were all full this time so we had no choice but to place our luggage on the ground among all of the other luggage stored there.

We headed up stairs to the Platinum Lounge and settled into our seats for what we were hoping would be a ‘peaceful’ trip to Piraeus….and then 3 American women which I was adamant were straight out of Housewives New York sat opposite us. They were loud and did not stop talking during the entire 2hrs from Santorini to Mykonos. I reckon if they didn’t get off at Mykonos Kellie would have threw them off. When they finally got up to leave Kellie muttered ‘Thank Christ for that!’ Bahahahahaha……

After dropping off passengers and picking up new ones we headed for the next island….Siros and then Piraeus. Due to rough seas the captain decided to take a different route which delayed our arrival into Piraeus by 2hrs. This was a painful journey as there was no air-condition and we all resorted to using the ships laminated safety procedure to fan ourselves to keep cool.

Finally….at 6:50pm we made it to Piraeus. We all stood in line squeezing past one another to get through the doorways and made a scramble to grab our luggage and to the main ramp of the ship waiting for it to be lowered. As soon as we were allowed we hurried off the ferry and was relieved to find our driver holding the name of our hotel so we knew he was waiting for us. Within 10 minutes we were at our hotel and checked-in.

After a bit we took a stroll down to the main street just 2 blocks away for a bite to eat as we won’t be able to have breakfast in the morning due to the early hour. We ended up settling for KFC as it was close by and as there is no KFC in Airlie Beach we thought why not?!?

After ordering and sitting down to have our meals…Kellie being the KFC Gravy connoisseur noticed that there was a distinct difference in taste to that of the gravy back home…but still palatable.

When finished we found an ATM to withdraw some euro out for our trip to the airport in the morning and headed back to our room.

It’s now 9:23pm and I will be finishing up this blog so that we can finish packing ready for a quick check-out in the morning.

Our next blog will be from Naples, Italy tomorrow πŸ™‚
